UNSW Research and Related Projects
-
Cave Climate, Speleothems and Hydrology
Andy Baker has a wide range of projects suitable for Honours and BEES0006 Special Topic projects that are related to hydrology, groundwater recharge, stalagmite isotope geochemistry, cave science, climatology, sustainability and groundwater governance that relate to an Australian Research Council project that runs until 2030. For more information see:
-
Greenhouse Gas Emission Measurements
Fieldwork opportunities are available for greenhouse gas measurement surveys in spring 2024. BEES0006 and honours projects are also available in this area.
Honours projects are also available for 2025 investigating methane emissions in cattle districts - This would involve satellite image processing and spatial data analysis.
-
Marine Sediment Geochemistry and Oxygen Isotopes
This is an honours project working on marine sediment cores from the Great Australian Bight to understand the relationship between whole rock trace element geochemistry and oxygen isotopes. This project will help build a database on past glacial and interglacial cycles, and may be used in climate modelling.
Fully funded project by ANZIC-IODP, which grants access to masterclasses in Australia, and summer schools in Europe.
